Kenya’s efforts to expand digital access in education continue to advance as the ICT Authority and its partners review progress on the Last Mile Connectivity of Schools Project in Kajiado County.
Implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of ICT and the Digital Economy, UNICEF Kenya and supported by the European Commission, the initiative is extending reliable internet connectivity to schools in underserved communities through an innovative hub-and-client model.
According to the ICT Authority, the project has already connected more than 780 schools nationwide, providing over 430,000 learners with access to digital learning resources and helping strengthen digital literacy across Kenya.
The initiative forms part of the country’s broader digital transformation agenda, with a focus on ensuring learners in remote and underserved areas have equal access to quality digital education and the opportunities it creates.
