Airtel Kenya has appointed Bonke Michael as Acting Managing Director of Airtel Money Kenya, succeeding Anne Kinuthia following her departure from the role.
Michael assumes leadership of one of Kenya’s largest mobile money platforms after spending more than a decade at Airtel, where he held senior roles across sales, business development and marketing before transitioning into the mobile money business. He brings more than 15 years of experience in telecommunications and fintech, with expertise in customer growth, digital adoption, revenue generation and data-driven strategy.
During his tenure at Airtel, Michael has played a key role in shaping Airtel Money’s growth through strategic partnerships with banks, fintech companies, merchants, regulators and payment networks. He has also contributed to the development of products designed to expand financial inclusion while driving revenue growth, improving customer engagement and reducing churn.
Speaking on his appointment, Michael said his immediate priorities will be to sustain Airtel Money’s growth momentum, execute the company’s strategic objectives and leverage digital innovation and customer insights to strengthen its position in Kenya’s increasingly competitive mobile financial services market.
The appointment comes as Airtel Money continues expanding its digital financial services portfolio to drive financial inclusion and support the evolving needs of consumers and businesses across Kenya.
