Safaricom PLC has unveiled Pata More, a long-term customer value programme that introduces lower M-PESA charges, larger mobile data allocations and faster fibre speeds as the company seeks to drive deeper engagement across its digital ecosystem.
Effective 7 August 2026, the fee-free threshold for Lipa na M-PESA Buy Goods payments will increase from KES 200 to KES 500, making everyday digital payments more affordable. Businesses transferring funds from Buy Goods tills to M-PESA wallets or PayBill accounts will benefit from approximately 50% lower transfer charges, while the free Pochi la Biashara transaction limit has been increased from KES 100 to KES 200. Charges on larger Pochi transactions will also be capped at KES 50 for the next 90 days.
Safaricom has also enhanced its data offerings without increasing prices. The KES 20 daily bundle now provides 250MB instead of 150MB, the KES 99 bundle has increased from 1GB to 1.5GB, while the KES 1,000 monthly package now offers 21.5GB, more than double the previous 10GB allocation. Fibre customers will also enjoy speeds of up to 2.5 times faster, while selected smartphones will include bundled connectivity and device insurance.
The programme comes as Safaricom focuses on increasing usage among its existing subscribers. M-PESA Kadogo processed 17.1 billion transactions during the year ended March 2026, accounting for 58% of all M-PESA activity, while M-PESA generated KES 182 billion and contributed 45% of Safaricom Kenya’s service revenue. As of March 2026, M-PESA held an 89.1% share of Kenya’s mobile money market.
Through Pata More, Safaricom is strengthening customer value by making digital payments more affordable, improving connectivity and integrating services through My OneApp, which brings together M-PESA, mobile, fibre and customer support as the company continues expanding the use of its digital ecosystem
