Kwetu eSIM has integrated its Mini App into Safaricom’s M-PESA Super App, enabling Kenyan travellers to purchase and activate international eSIM data packages using their M-PESA balances.
The integration allows users to access mobile data connectivity across more than 200 destinations without requiring international debit or credit cards. Travellers can purchase and activate their eSIM packages before departure, helping them prepare for connectivity ahead of their trips.
Users can choose from local, regional and global data plans, including options covering East African Community destinations. The service is designed to provide travellers with flexible connectivity based on their destination and travel requirements.
According to Kwetu eSIM General Manager Kevin Mwando, the integration aims to make accessing international connectivity as simple as sending money through M-PESA.
The service also allows users to keep their primary Safaricom numbers active for calls and SMS while using the eSIM for mobile data abroad.
The integration brings international eSIM purchasing directly into the M-PESA Super App, giving Kenyan travellers another option for managing connectivity while travelling outside the country.
