Gwen Njiru-Kinisu has taken over as Chief Executive Officer and Principal Officer of Britam Life Assurance Kenya, marking a leadership transition at one of Kenya’s established life insurers.
She joins Britam after more than eight years at Prudential Kenya, where she served as CEO and Managing Director from 2021. Before that, she held the position of Chief Commercial Officer.
With more than two decades of experience in financial services, Njiru-Kinisu has built her career across insurance distribution, commercial strategy and executive management, holding leadership positions at several major insurance and banking institutions.
Before joining Prudential in 2018, she served as General Manager for Direct Business at Old Mutual Kenya. She had previously been General Manager for Bancassurance at National Bank of Kenya and headed Alternative Channels and Bancassurance at Pan Africa Life Assurance Company.
Her experience spans the expansion of insurance distribution through banking partnerships and direct customer channels.
Njiru-Kinisu holds a Global Executive MBA in International Business and a bachelor’s degree in business from United States International University-Africa. Since 2023, she has also served on the board of the International Centre for Research on Women-Africa.
