KCB’ Paul Russo Re-elected KBA Chair, Betty Korir Vice- Chair Again

Kenya Bankers Association (KBA) members have re-elected KCB Group CEO Paul Russo as Chairperson and Credit Bank CEO Betty Korir as Vice Chairperson for the 2026/2027 term, extending a leadership team now guiding the sector through a sustained credit recovery phase.

The decision was confirmed during the KBA 64th Annual General Meeting held in Nairobi on 19 June 2026, bringing together the association’s 46 member banks that collectively oversee assets exceeding KSh 7.7 trillion across Kenya’s financial system.

KBA continues to play a central role in shaping Kenya’s banking landscape by influencing policy, regulation, and legislation aimed at strengthening financial stability while improving access to affordable credit for individuals, households, and businesses.

The re-election comes amid improving sector fundamentals, with private sector credit growth rebounding to 9.3% in May 2026 after a contraction earlier in 2025, supported by easing lending rates and cumulative policy rate cuts that have begun to stimulate borrowing activity.

With regulatory reforms such as the Risk-Based Credit Pricing Model and recent policy adjustments on capital requirements supporting lending expansion, the banking sector enters the new term with stronger capital buffers, improving liquidity conditions, and a clearer path toward sustained credit growth.
