Kenya is strengthening collaboration with global technology companies as it advances its digital transformation agenda, with cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI) and sovereign cloud infrastructure emerging as key priorities.
Principal Secretary for the State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui, recently met with Oracle Kenya Managing Director and Public Sector Leader for Africa, David Bunei, to discuss expanding public-private partnerships that support Kenya’s digital ambitions. The discussions focused on leveraging cloud technologies, AI and sovereign cloud infrastructure to accelerate digital transformation across Kenya and the wider African region.
According to Tanui, the meeting also highlighted the growing importance of secure, resilient and citizen-centric digital services as governments and businesses continue to accelerate digital adoption. He noted that stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors will be essential in building the digital infrastructure, innovation and trust needed to support long-term economic competitiveness.
The Principal Secretary added that Kenya is positioning itself as a regional digital hub, with partnerships involving global technology companies such as Oracle expected to strengthen digital infrastructure, improve public service delivery, foster innovation and create new opportunities for businesses and young people.
The engagement forms part of Kenya’s broader strategy to accelerate the growth of its digital economy through collaboration with leading technology providers while enhancing the country’s competitiveness in the regional and global digital landscape.
