Kenya has commissioned its 117th Jitume Digital Hub, marking another milestone in the country’s efforts to expand digital inclusion and accelerate the implementation of the Digital Superhighway initiative.
The new hub was officially launched at the Koibatek Agricultural Training Centre (KATC) in Eldama Ravine during the Uzalendo Half Marathon 2026. The commissioning was led by Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku alongside Principal Secretary for the State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui.
Established by the Technopolis Development Authority under the Jitume Digital Programme and connected by the ICT Authority through the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project, the facility will provide young people and the surrounding community with access to digital skills training, online job opportunities, innovation and collaboration spaces, as well as government digital services.
According to Eng. Tanui, every new Jitume Digital Hub strengthens the government’s commitment to building an inclusive digital economy by expanding access to technology, supporting entrepreneurship and innovation, and equipping more Kenyans with future-ready digital skills.
The launch of the 117th hub reinforces Kenya’s broader digital transformation agenda by bringing connectivity, digital services and economic opportunities closer to communities across the country while supporting inclusive socio-economic development.
