Nyaribo Primary School in Nyeri County is set for a Sh52 million modernisation programme aimed at replacing ageing infrastructure and expanding access to science, technology and digital learning facilities.
The M-Pesa Foundation is contributing Sh50 million to the project, while the Ministry of Education is providing Sh2 million towards a science laboratory for the school’s Junior Secondary School section.
The development will include four permanent classrooms, a science laboratory, a computer laboratory and an Early Childhood Development Education centre. The new facilities will also be equipped to support practical and technology-based learning. Existing old and wooden structures are being demolished to make way for the development on the school’s five-acre site.
East African Community Principal Secretary Caroline Karugu, who led the groundbreaking ceremony, said the investment will introduce greater opportunities for practical and experiential learning at a school that has previously lacked science and computer facilities.
The modernisation is expected to strengthen STEM education, digital literacy and practical learning for primary and junior secondary students while improving the overall learning environment. The project brings together government and private-sector support to address infrastructure gaps and expand access to modern education facilities in Nyeri County
