Kenya’s Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Phase II is continuing its nationwide rollout, expanding access to technology-enabled learning in public Junior Schools and strengthening teachers’ ability to integrate digital tools into classroom instruction.
The latest rollout was held at Nyaribo Junior School in Nyeri County, where Amb. Dr Caroline W. Karugu, Principal Secretary for the State Department for East African Community Affairs and Acting Principal Secretary for the State Department for ASALs and Regional Development, joined learners, teachers and other stakeholders to mark progress under the programme.
According to the ICT Authority, more than 62,000 teachers have so far been trained nationally to integrate digital technologies into teaching and learning.
DLP Phase II is targeting 10,382 public Junior Schools across all 47 counties. Through the ICT Authority, the government is providing schools with digital devices, connectivity and skills intended to support the integration of technology into everyday classroom learning.
The programme is being implemented under the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project (KDEAP), with support from the World Bank.
The nationwide rollout forms part of Kenya’s broader efforts to strengthen digital skills and expand access to technology-enabled education across the public school system.
