Bolt Send surpasses one million parcel deliveries in Kenya as demand for app-based logistics continues to grow.
Bolt Send has surpassed one million parcel deliveries in Kenya, less than a year after the on-demand courier service was formally relaunched in September 2025. The milestone highlights the continued growth of app-based logistics and formal courier services in the country.
Between January and July 2026, Bolt Send’s order volumes in Kenya increased by more than 135%, making the country the fastest-growing established Send market globally, according to Bolt. Kenya also overtook Ghana in May for two-wheel delivery volumes and was 67% ahead on a like-for-like basis by August.
The growth has been driven by both motorcycle and car delivery services. Motorcycle deliveries, introduced as a distinct Bolt Send product in February, increased by more than 130% between January and July. Car deliveries were introduced in Nairobi in March to support larger and bulkier parcels.
Bolt said the average Send trip covers 9.4 kilometres, with the service used by businesses moving stock and documents as well as individuals sending parcels across Nairobi. Couriers have maintained an average rating of 4.84 out of five. The company has also introduced optional PIN verification to provide an additional layer of security during parcel handovers.
Nairobi accounted for more than 95% of Send volumes between January and July 2026. In August, Bolt expanded its two-wheel delivery service to Mombasa, marking its first expansion beyond the capital. Customers can also use the service to transport parcels to long-distance bus termini, connecting last-mile deliveries with intercity transport routes to destinations such as Kisumu, Nakuru and Meru.
The service’s growth follows regulatory developments that paved the way for its formal relaunch. The Communications Authority of Kenya gazetted Bolt as a National Courier Operator in August 2025, while the company received its full National Courier Operator licence in July 2026. Bolt said 95.7% of all Send orders recorded in Kenya were placed after the August 2025 gazettement.
Friday has emerged as the busiest day for Bolt Send, with delivery volumes 23% above the daily average. Bolt attributed the pattern to businesses completing orders, restocking and meeting end-of-week deadlines.
The expansion positions Bolt Send to serve a broader base of businesses, retailers, e-commerce operators and individual customers seeking formal courier services across Kenya.
