Kenya and the United Kingdom are strengthening cybersecurity cooperation as both countries explore ways to protect Kenya’s growing digital economy and critical digital infrastructure.
The discussions took place during a visit to Kenya by Ollie Whitehouse, Chief Technology Officer at the UK National Cyber Security Centre, who met with Ambassador Philip Thigo, Kenya’s Special Envoy on Technology to the President.
The engagement focused on cybersecurity, Kenya’s expanding digital economy and public infrastructure, as well as emerging technologies including artificial intelligence. The two sides also explored opportunities to strengthen national resilience, digital security and public trust.
Kenyan national security institutions joined the discussions to exchange perspectives and advance cooperation with their UK counterparts. Key areas include protecting personal data, online services and digital payments, supporting safer e-government and businesses, strengthening local cybersecurity skills and improving public confidence in digital platforms.
The engagement builds on the existing UK-Kenya Strategic Partnership and is expected to deepen cooperation as both countries work towards a safer and more resilient digital economy.
