The British High Commission in Nairobi, in partnership with the British Council, has brought together Kenyan alumni of UK universities and scholarship programmes to explore the growing impact of artificial intelligence on skills development, innovation and the future of work.
Held under the UK’s #GoFarGoTogether alumni initiative, the event brought together members of the Commonwealth Scholarships Alumni Association of Kenya (CSAAK), the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, the Chevening Alumni Network Kenya, the University of Birmingham alumni community and technology experts for discussions on how AI is reshaping workplaces and the skills needed for tomorrow’s economy.
The engagement reflects the UK’s continued commitment to supporting its alumni community in Kenya through programmes such as Chevening and Commonwealth Scholarships, which have produced hundreds of graduates now contributing across government, academia, business, technology and the development sector. With more than 700 Chevening alumni in Kenya, these networks continue to foster collaboration, professional development and knowledge sharing.
The discussions also come as Kenya accelerates its national AI agenda through initiatives such as the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, digital skills programmes and collaborations with global technology partners. Alumni networks are increasingly becoming valuable platforms for exchanging ideas, strengthening partnerships and preparing professionals for an AI-driven future.
As artificial intelligence continues to reshape economies worldwide, initiatives like these demonstrate the importance of international collaboration, lifelong learning and professional networks in equipping the workforce with the skills needed to drive innovation and support sustainable digital transformation.
