Kenya has expanded its digital education programme with the rollout of smartboards and teacher laptops to junior secondary schools in Nyandarua County under the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project (KDEAP).
The initiative, launched at Ol’Kalou Junior School, will see 172 junior secondary schools equipped with smartboards and teacher laptops during the first phase, with the remaining schools set to benefit in the next phase to ensure equitable access to digital learning.
According to the government, the programme goes beyond providing devices by supporting the development of digitally enabled classrooms, strengthening school ICT infrastructure and equipping teachers with modern tools to enhance teaching and learning.
The project is also expected to help learners develop the digital skills, creativity and confidence needed to participate in an increasingly technology-driven economy while supporting Kenya’s broader digital transformation agenda.
The rollout highlights the government’s continued investment in digital education as part of efforts to build a digitally skilled workforce and promote inclusive access to technology across the country.
