BasiGo has partnered with Rubis Energy Kenya to expand Kenya’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure, launching a new network of public fast-charging stations along major transport corridors to accelerate the country’s transition to electric mobility.
The first charging station under the partnership is now operational at the Rubis service station in Sabaki, Athi River. Three additional stations in Meru, Nanyuki and Nyeri are scheduled to become operational later this month, extending charging access beyond Nairobi and supporting the growth of inter-city electric transport.
The charging stations are open to the public and will serve electric buses, vans, trucks, passenger vehicles and other compatible EVs. Each site is equipped with CCS2 and GB/T DC 100kW fast chargers capable of charging a typical passenger vehicle in under one hour, with charging priced at an indicative KES 48 per kWh.
The partnership combines BasiGo’s expertise in electric mobility infrastructure with Rubis Energy Kenya’s nationwide retail network of more than 300 service stations. Together, the companies aim to strengthen Kenya’s EV ecosystem by making charging more accessible, reliable and commercially viable for transport operators and individual motorists.
The initiative also reflects Rubis Energy’s broader evolution from a traditional fuel distributor into a diversified energy provider, while reinforcing BasiGo’s position as East Africa’s leading electric mobility infrastructure company. Additional charging stations are planned across Kenya and the wider East and Southern African region as demand for electric transport continues to grow.
