Chinese smartphone maker OPPO has launched its Reno16 series in Kenya, introducing two 5G models priced between KSh 69,999 and KSh 79,999. The devices target consumers seeking distinctive smartphone designs alongside modern connectivity features.
The series features what OPPO calls its “3D Pop Planet Design”, inspired by cosmic imagery. The Pop White edition uses micro-lens technology to create a three-dimensional nebula effect on the rear panel that changes with light and movement.
Fredrique Achieng, PR Manager at OPPO Kenya, said the company developed the design to give users another way to express their individuality through their smartphones.
The Reno16 5G features a compact 6.32-inch display designed for one-handed use and an aluminium frame. The Reno16 F 5G comes with a larger 6.57-inch screen. Both models feature a one-piece rear cover that flows into the camera module, which OPPO says helps reduce dust build-up around the lenses.
Pre-orders are open until 4 November through OPPO stores, authorised dealers and e-commerce platforms. Customers who pre-order will receive OPPO wireless earbuds, a 10,000mAh power bank, six months of screen protection and three months of Google Gemini Pro with 5TB of cloud storage.
The launch comes as smartphone manufacturers compete for Kenya’s growing mid-range market. Brands including Tecno, Infinix, Samsung and Xiaomi are targeting consumers looking to upgrade to 5G devices.
The line-up includes the OPPO Reno16 5G, retailing at KSh 79,999, and the Reno16 F 5G, priced at KSh 69,999. Both models are available in Pop White and Twilight Violet.
