Safaricom has appointed Boniface Mungania, OGW, as Chief Financial Services Officer, effective 1 November 2026.
Mungania brings close to two decades of experience in financial services, digital transformation, customer care and business development. He joined Safaricom in 2007 as a Customer Care Representative and has since held several leadership positions within the company.
His previous roles include Head of M-PESA Products and Services Development, Payments Tribe Lead and, most recently, Director of Public Sector Digital Transformation.
During his career, Mungania has contributed to the development of financial services innovations that have changed how customers transact, save and access financial services. He has also led national digital transformation initiatives across agriculture, healthcare, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and public finance.
His appointment brings experience spanning financial services innovation and the development of digital infrastructure to Safaricom’s financial services leadership.
