Estonia-founded technology school //kood is expanding its global footprint with new campuses in Kenya and Moldova, while also opening a second location in Ukraine as it continues its mission of making technology education more accessible.
The tuition-free coding school will launch its first cohorts in Nairobi and Chișinău later this year, while Ukraine will add a new campus in Odesa alongside its existing Zhytomyr location. The programme is funded through public development finance, requires no prior technology experience and uses a hands-on, peer-to-peer learning model instead of traditional classroom lectures.
In Kenya, //kood/Nairobi will operate from Kenyatta University’s School of Education and Lifelong Learning. The programme has already attracted significant interest, with approximately 800 registrations for its Selection Sprint, which saw around 80 participants shortlisted. Women accounted for 35% of participants, with the average learner aged 23. The initiative comes as Kenya continues to face an estimated annual shortage of around 20,000 ICT professionals.
According to Kenyatta University, the programme reflects a commitment to expanding access to lifelong learning and digital skills development. //kood said its learning model is designed to equip people from diverse educational and professional backgrounds with practical software development skills that improve employment opportunities and support national digital competitiveness.
Founded in Jõhvi, Estonia, in 2021, //kood has trained more than 2,500 learners, with over 500 graduates from Estonia and Finland now employed across more than 160 technology companies. The latest expansion into Kenya, Moldova and a second Ukrainian campus reflects the organisation’s continued efforts to support digital skills development in emerging technology ecosystems.
