Safaricom Business, in partnership with the Embassy of Peru to Kenya, has donated KES 500,000 to Gacharage Comprehensive School in Kiambu County to improve learning conditions and promote equitable access to education.
The contribution was made under the concluded Shangwe@25 Business Promotion initiative and reflects the partners’ shared commitment to supporting quality education and creating opportunities for learners through strategic community investments.
The funding enabled the school to acquire 100 desks and provide menstrual hygiene support for girls, benefiting at least 1,280 learners. The initiative is expected to improve the learning environment while addressing barriers that can affect school attendance, participation and academic performance, particularly among girls.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Peru’s Ambassador to Kenya, Romy Tincopa, said the initiative represents a shared commitment to creating hope, dignity and opportunity for young learners through collaborative partnerships.
Safaricom Business said the investment reinforces its commitment to transforming lives through education by supporting initiatives that promote inclusive learning environments and improve access to quality educational resources, contributing to stronger communities and Kenya’s long-term development.
